hey guys/girls. i'm in the process of setting up a 10 gallon tank. i'm thinking a planted tank with maybe some cardinal tetras, a pair of blue rams, and some shrimp.
to get to the point, i want to know if regular top soil, or even peat moss, would be suitable to grow plants in and not harm my fish.

btw, the dirt will be 100% pesticide/chemical free

Topsoil will cloud you tank, and not provide the necessary nutrients. Peat moss is fine, just rinse it out well.

Good choice, watch your pH though.
