My senegal bichir has only grown from approx. 3" to 7" in the past year even though it gets plenty of food, and my water temp. stays at 82F+. So I was wondering if maybe it could be slightly SB, but I can't tell, so I'll let you all decide. Here are a couple pics I took a few minutes ago (not the best quality, but I think they give a pretty accurate representation of its body shape):

Yeah I know, that's what has me stumped too.

btw, the hump wasn't there until it was probably about 5-6"

Edit: just looked at an old pic in my album from when it was about 6-6.5", and the hump really wasn't nearly as noticeable then either.

Wow i like what i see m8, its a really nice senegal.

looks like a male humpback you got over there, i dont think its a SB but im not so good at this anyways so i'll let the experts decide :)

Im not sure but i think that humpbacks dont grow so big, or that they grow very slow. right - wrong?

Thanks, and thanks for the input also. I really hope it doesn't stay small, it is already many times smaller than most of its tankmates (including a ~22-23" pacu), so I'm a little worried that it may eventually become food, but so far, the pacu has never even seemed to notice it, and I've even seen it swim directly in front of the pacu's mouth while going to the surface for air, and the pacu didn't react, so hopefully that won't change...

Well it came from petsmart, so I really wouldn't be too surprised if it has bad genes.
