Hi!

I'm going to NYC the first time in december and have been planning to buy a Budgett's frog from there to take with me as a pet to Finland where I live.

I've been dreaming of this frog for about two years now and it's impossible to find one from Europe. I've studied many care sheets over the years and think that I'm ready to get one.

I'm very common with Finnish regulations for importing live animals - but still don't think I don't know much about USA's requirements.
I'm working on finding out every little detail what needs to be done - but I would really appreciate your help too since I know you people are smart in these matters and I'm feeling kind of lonely and going crazy for finding all this information by myself :chillpill:

I would be devastated if I get to buy the frog and then had to abandon it at the airport because I didn't know some little detail what had to be done.

I'm very thankful for every little help there is that you give!

k, bye! :D

You are not allowed to carry live animals through an airport without the paperworks. Especially exotic non-native species.

I can't say for sure EXACTLY what you need, but I think you will at least need an export permit, which only government certified businesses carry. I think it's issued either by the US Fish & Wildlife or the US Department of Agriculture.

So in short, you will have to find someone who has that permit to ship it to you in Finland. One thing is for sure, you can't hide it in your luggage.

I've never planned to hide the frog in my luggage and if I was planning to do that why would I ask for the regulations :)

Its not feasable for one Frog - Not even 100 really........Paperwork, fees, and brokerage would probably be right around $600, plus the freight.......

The lady I met on craigslist said she got the anoles she gave me from someone that brought them back from texas in thier shirt pocket.must have been 15 years ago.Not even remotely possible someone could get away with something like that these days. You see what US airport security looks like these days?Probably get you put on a no fly list for smuggling a frog bomb.

Budgetts are easy to get in Europe? Loads here in the UK,and certainly at the Hamm shows in germany,Houten in holland. All would be easier and cheaper than trying to export from the US i would think?
