reinforce my floor?

I just got a 150 gallon long and I need to know if the floor needs to be reinforced if the tank is right next to a main wall of my house?

Depeneds, is it running paralell to or perpendicular to the support boards?

If its only sitting on 2 support boards (Paralell) that is bad, you need to reinforce.

It its perpendicular, you will be fine.

I have done the reinforcements and can show you pics of how to do it.

i did. go under house and along side the floor stringers, pound in some more. i belive there 2x6's

If you go 10 pounds per gallon for the complete set up, it is a good estimate.

Otherwise if you want to be more accurate, you will have to calculate everything out separate. Water weighs 8.33 pounds per gallon.

I calculated the weight of my 150g long (72x18x29.5) to be about 1700 pounds.

thats:

stand weight-50 pounds (tube steel)
empty tank weight (300 pounds)
gravel weight (185 pounds)
water weight (less what was displaced by the gravel and using inside tank dimensions)-1200 pounds
