At what size of a tank would you need to start thinking of reinforcing your floors? What's the biggest tank that you could safely place on the second floor of a standard building/apartment? Ground floor? How would you go about increasing the load capacity of a floor? is it possible to just place a large sheet of plywood underneath the tank in order to further spread out the weight of the tank to more support beams? Thanks.

ive just reinforced the floor for a 180 with 50 sump. downstairs. think our houses are built a bit differently to yours but the principal should be the same. I took the floorboards up and put breeze blocks under the joists. depends really whats under there. I was lucky and the tank is evenly spaced over 5 joists. floorboards back and then a sheet of 3/4 mdf over the whole thing. id be confident with twice the weight of tank now. different story upstairs though.
