Anyone got any tricks on trying to put a female back in the tank again? Got a 6 foot tank with a pair of texas that own 60% of the tank and a male green terror has the rest.

I had her in there with him a few weeks ago when I had alot more fish<had like 9 fish,I was out of control> and she was getting tore up bad, I had to move her to a hospital tank. Anyone think it has a chance of working or is it just a dissaster waiting to happen? All the fish are about the same size. My dream is to have both pairs, one on each side.

Oh one more thing the texas have fry and they insist on moving all over the tank with them. Even over in the terrors territory and make him move to the very corner. :irked:

Use an egg crate divider with an opening large enough for the female but small enough to prevent the male from passing through. Remove it after a week or so.

its the texas he is worried about not the GT male (at least thats how i interpreted it) but either way the egg crate is still your best option, split the tank in half and add the female, in a couple weeks when they have re-bonded and are ready to protect their territory you can try taking out the divider and seeing how they do for a couple hours and do this for longer and longer until you are sure that both pairs are happy with their sides of the tank and not going to go psycho and kill the others GOOD LUCK, i love tanks that have pairs breeding and coexisting

Yea I'm much more worried about the texas. The female is half the size of my male terror and she rolls him. Feel bad, but I have no where else to put him.

I will have to try the egg crate after the fry grow a bit more. Don't want to see some emotional parents as the fry go through to the other side.

you can go ahead and put it in there, the fry will learn quick enough to not go to the other side or be eaten, usually fish are pretty smart when it comes to things like that lol and the parents should redirect the school of them anyways to stay on their side, n sounds like the poor GT male could use a break from being harassed as well, IME my GTs weren't really aggressive and would only fight with someone if the other fish started it, they wouldnt actually go out looking for someone to fight like my carpintis do sometimes
