So after my 7" Female Dovii laid her eggs and the 5" Male did his job she really put a hurting on him. I put a divider in the tank to separate them. Well the eggs were eaten so I wanted to try for another spawning. I removed the divider one morning and by that evening he was looking really rough again so they are once again separated. Up until the spawning I have not had a single issue with aggression between the two of them. How long should I wait before I remove the divider again?

IME- when parachromis are ready to breed with eachother, you won't have to remove the divider, they will remove it on their own- i kid you not my male jaguar completely knocked down a sturdy divider to get to his girl.

after a few spawning aggresion should complelely fade away. by this time they are done "testing" eachothers strength for breeding. but until than you'll have to accept a bit of scuffles. i wouldn't put the divider in unless one is seriously injured. remove it when you think both are in top physical shape.

Yea the male was beat up bad, he would hover at the top edge of the tank and she'd slam him at full speed, quite a few chunks were out of his side. It was comparable with my spawning cons when the female killed the male.
