I am going to relocate a gator gar from my old house to my new one in a couple of days. The gator gar is about 26" and is very powerful. Are there any suggestions on how to move it so that it will not hurt itself or me during the process? Thanks.

sedate it with clove oil. drain its tank or pond to a low level and add it in. search clove oil and you will find more info.
I would get a large Tupperware tub, as big as you can get (or at least big enough to hold the gar). Then I would drain the pond very low so you can catch him (sedated or not). Then capture him with either a large net, or a pillowcase or large sheet. Put him into the Tupperware with some of the pond water. Transport to new house.
I would make sure to either get a Tupperware container with a securely locking lid, or else I'd duck tape the heck out of it once the gar is inside...
