ok I know this is a very vague description but would love any help. IM 21 and live in humboldt county just moved here from san diego where i owned and created 2 tanks a 75 gallon oscar tank and a 55 discus tank. both planted, anyways very impressed with the amazing tanks on this site.

ANYWAYS i want to hear some different routes I can take I have a 2 bedroom apartment on the bottom floor so i have limited space i was thinking a 55 at the smallest and possibly up to 90 or a 100 gallon tops.

WHT is the extent of my options fish wise. are there any COOL NEW SUGGESTIONS. other than oscars and discus.

Like I said befor this is a very odd post i do realize just trying to talk to someone who has a great amount of aquaium knowlege and willing to expand mine hahaha right on looking forward to responses

Get the biggest tank you can fit/afford. And get whatever fish are going to make you happy. If you want to try to something new; what was it about the oscars you liked? Same question for the discus?

i like the aggresiveness of oscars and the beauty of the discus. lol pretty obvious but the oscars are boring and so are the disc and alot of work. i dont mind maintanance or anything but i was thinking about flowerhorns. what do you keep? i would like plants and possibly like 4-5 fish in like a 90 gallon if that breaks it down a little.

thanks for the reply

Well you arent going to be able to have plants with any of the aggressive cichlids, nor could you keep more than one adult oscar in a 90 gallon. If you want a planted tank more peaceful fish are the best way to go. Spend some time browsing the planted tank sub forum to get some inspiration.

What part of Northern California are you from? Would help narrow down your choices if we knew what was available to you.

I keep aros, dats, bichirs, and some cichlids. But my largest tank is over 500 gallons and I have about 1000 gallons total between the rest
