11 months ago (pretty much) I fell and broke my leg. I was laid up for a month before being allowed to go back to work following surgery.

Well, I'll be off again, this time for three weeks. All my back trouble I've been having on and off for five years has finally been diagnosed. I've got a herniation of the L5 disc, so I'll be having surgery on 1/17 to remove the offending part..

Ya'll can start with the spinless jokes, but I'll be off work AGAIN...

I'm telling you, I should just schedule a different surgery for each year.. I've had surgery in various sorts in 03, 04, 05 and now 06!!!

So until I get the all clear, no more hauling heavy stuff around for a while :'(:'(

I can sympathise for you.

Two years ago I herniated L4 and L5 with S1 results. As it turned out, my primary physician had exactly the same injury. After the MRI confirmed his suspicions, he convinced me to avoid the surgery as long as possible. After heavy doses of vicotin and ibroproferun and the stretching exercises, I was playing golf in six months. It still acts up occasionally. But I deal with it using the overthecounter pain pills.

Good luck with the surgery.

I am hoping to avoid the hospitals this year. 5 years ago I had a stroke due to a combination of high blood pressure ( 260 over 160) and high blood sugar (465). I spent a year relearning to walk and write my name. Once I was a computer programmer, now I run an automotive repair shop. There are few openings for mainframe programmers in this area(Charlotte, NC). So I say stay away from the hospitals They might try to keep me.
