PPL here have so many fish and so much experience, sometimes I wonder ;-)

I'm raising my first baby.
What's working on his timidness, is red wigglers. He's not thrilled about being alone in QT, but can't resist the sight wiggling worm pieces.
:-)
I'm loving it.

My not-so-fishy husband is officially In Training, by "our" oscar in the kitchen.
I'm not sure which is working the most on him- baby Oscar peeking between the leaves & dashing out to gulp wigglers, or my strategic arrangement of his QT tank in the middle of the kitchen with hose & repeated water changes.
I keep mentioning how an 8 (or 10) foot tank could fit against his TV wall if it's not too tall, bcuz we can hang the Big Screen above it.
Today he said, one old kids' room "could have tanks all around the walls, so PPL sleeping over are surrounded by fish staring at them."

He's trying to out-smart me, in a nice way.
:lol2:
(but I still want to share the TV wall. can't get a long tank thru door via the hallway)

I'm loving the little peru. he's my partner in crime.

Congrats! Fish that make other people happy, make me happy too! My first new world cichlid was in fact a tiger Oscar he got pretty big pretty fast and when he passed is when I really started getting Into more rare species. Good luck!

If an Oscar can't convert your husband then he can't be converted. When it's the size of a small dog he'll have a revelation: for all practical purposes it IS a small dog, a spoiled & rowdy puppy.:D
Haha. yeah, that's the angle I'm working here.
I spied him looking all around the O's tank hard, while he didn't know I had a view.
LOL.
I said nothing., let him be so cool... I just drop worms in O's tank whenever he comes in the kitchen!
;-)

Everyone remembers their first Oscar. Got mine when he was about 1.5", the runt in the tank, and named him Marley. He grew fast and was a delight to have. Had to rehome he after I moved out for school because I couldn't bring him in with me. Had him almost 2 years.

Wow, marley's size exploded in only 3 months!
and you got another O too. did you have to rehome both of them?

That Albino was an impulse buy and I rehome it like a month later. This video was like 3 days after I got him. They grow very fast.

He really was tiny in this vid. yet, bold & all over the place.
My little guy is starting to watch my hand for worms if he's hungry. still lurks in the plants until they drop, probably bcuz he's alone.
It's fun watching him connect where food comes from :-) and lavishing repeated 100% water changes on him in the kitchen. He loves the swirling hose water. sometimes I do it just for play. LOL.
but this will be a very short phase, just time to build confidence and then off to a better scene!

Within a month he will be following your every move waiting for food. Looks at you then looks at the surface of the water waiting.

"food?"
LOL. Yeah, the next step in my scam is husband dropping worms in there too.
:-)))
