Hard to believe it's been 23 years today since I lost my Dad. This year's anniversary is even harder with losing my Sister just 2 months ago. Really hard when you get to that age where life stops giving to you and starts taking so much away. All you can do is love & appreciate those you are lucky enough to still have in your life, cherish and remember the ones you have lost, and try to face every day with the best attitude possible, because even with so much loss, life still has a lot of beauty to offer.

I can relate my stepfather who'd been in my life since I was 6 or 7 recently passed back in March. Every day is tough but I'm just happy he got to meet his grandkids before he passed away.

I hate when people say I'm sorry or it'll get better, it's their condolence and I appreciate it for that but at the same time it drives me nuts

I lost my dad 2 years ago as well, so can understand that is a loss not easy to get over...

It's traditional.
They've said the same things for 100's of years, and they'll say them when we die as well.

It doesn't help unless you let it.
Nothing does.

I'm sorry to hijack your thread Steve, to me it just seems to get harder. My oldest son (10) is worried that my twins (1) won't remember him and I told him that we help them remember.

It's a touching little tribute. Aug 10th is a 2nd anniversary of my Dad's passing. I don't think his absence has registered with me yet.

Death can be hard on alot of people. My step-mother just passed two weeks ago. I knew her for 33 1/2 years. The only thing that makes it easier was she was sick alot.

As I told my son when her nana died (my Mom), her angel is in your head, Just ask her, you know what her answer will be to any question.
we only loose them when we stop asking them.
