I have had sand in my tank now for approx 2 months and my water has always gone green? I basically did large water changes took all the other bits out so i was just left with sand in the tank and it was still the same? Anyway i removed the sand and it looks like that is what was turned my water green (i cant understand why as it was aquarium sand) I want to put a substrate back in and i do like the sand so now im looking for a local supplier of pfs. Anyone else come across this when using sand or is it just me?

I've gotten a bluish green algae in my sand when the sun came in and hit the tank just right. I'm using PFS. Now that I have more rays, they keep the sand stirred up more and this doesn't seem to happen as much.

The sand always looked clean but the water looked terrible even though the parameters were ok. I have only got 2 motoro pups in at the moment but i defo want some more sand in

Is your tank in sunlight? I have used sand in my Motoro tank for a couple of years now and have had no issues. My tank is not in direct sunlight.

No its not in the sun, The tank is ok now i have taken the sand out. It must off being something in the sand even though i gave it a good rinse? I am going try and get some pfs this week and put that in.
