Removing fine substrate from acrylic with fish in tip

If you ever have to remove fine substrate in an acrylic tank with fish in it... in my case fine oolitic aragonite...use this trusty tool Yes the trusty plastic dust pan..the rubber edge doesn't scratch the tank...the substrate sits nicely in it...and the excess water drains right out the handle before you unload it into a bucket!
 
I use hose and it sucks the sand out but this tool might be useful for liftting heavier objects as bigger peebles a hose cannot suck with gravity! Thank you for the tip
 
In my case I can't use the siphon & python in my apartment to remove the substrate or I will be calling the plumber. I can't get a strong enough siphon if I do not attach it to the sink with the valve. Yeah, I was surprised how effective the silly dustpan was. Pretty effective in converting to bare bottom. Now, I just have to find some garnet here locally.
