Removing FX6 Main Lid Oring to clean & lubricate

Has anyone had to change one of these, or try to remove to lubricate with silicone grease?

Any pointers? I don't want to damage it, but I always like to lube canister orings/gaskets with silicone grease at each servicing, specially after 6 months or so.

The first time (when I first bought it new) I used a credit card wedged between the oring and the lid, and pryed it out, but even that took a bit of time, trial and error.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has a better way....

I've always just ran a wet finger around it and put the lid back on. I do lube the shut off valve o-rings though.

I use an o-ring pick or a paper clip straightened out with a bit of a bent hook on the end. Do be careful not to pierce or tear the o-ring using either item.
