Just as the title states, I was thinking about removing the overflows and changing the filtration on my 120g and I wanted to seek a little bit of help. There's nothing really wrong with the sump, the dual overflows just take up a lot of space and don't exactly look very nice (they're covered in BBA and it's not very easy to get off).
My main concern was capping the holes after I remove all the tubing and the overflows. Could I just put some bulkheads in the holes and cap them off? That seems like the best option, but if anyone else has a better idea I'd love to hear it.
As for the replacement filtration, my plan was to have 1 canister filter (probably either an eheim 2217 or a rena filstar xp4) and two large HOB (either marineland emperor 400 or marineland penguin 350). I would start using the canister before removing the sump, that way it would take in some of the BB and prevent a recycling after I removed the sump. Then, I would put on the HOBs. How does that sound?
Also, I'm guessing removing the overflows just requires a razor blade and some elbow grease? If there's another way, feel free to let me know.
Thanks for reading, I look forward to any advice.
