I just bought a used 50 gallon tank and it has a blue painted backdrop. Can I remove this paint with anything? I would like to repaint it black. Thanks.

Glass

How bout the paint...Can you tell what kind it is? Paint thinner may work.

I've scraped a few tanks with razorblades, but sometimes it can put scratches in the glass.. might want to use a scratch remover before you re-paint back..

Good luck Troy!

Depending on the kind of paint, I would try to peel as much of it off with a scrapper or gently with a new clean razor. Dull razors causes marks.

if you cannot take paint off by peeling & scraping there are paint removers you can get at the hardware stores. Need lots of ventilation. Spray on, wait for chemical to work & scrape or wipe off.

Good luck with your project. Let us know how it went.

Thanks All
