So I have gotten sick of having to look through cloudy glass. My 135 planted aquarium was purchased used, and the inside of the glass is scratched up. It is very fine little scratches, almost like steel wool was used to clean the tank. When full, the tank appears to be very cloudy, but it is an affect of the scratches. I have tried some abrasive algae scrubbers, and razor blades, but nothing has changed the look. Does anyone have any ideas short of taking the tank down, sanding it and rebuffing the glass? I don't want to go to that extreme yet, but will when the tank gets taken down again.

You can sand glass and clear it up, but only if you have access to the proper sandpapers, and a GOOD buffer.

I have some 8,000 grit laying out in my work shop. Use to work for a hardware shop, and REALLY stocked up on tools, and other little useful items. When you can get 8,000 grit sand paper for $0.04 per sheet, you just can't pass it up.

So you have the sand paper...and a tank full of water...

WET SAND IT

Work on one spot to see if doing it by hand will give you the results you want. If that doesn't work, buy an air powered buffer. The air blasting out of it will be a problem at the surface. You will need to lower the level in the tank so you don't make a mess on the floor.
