i have a 40g tank i want to use for my sump. the problem is i cant get it into my stand. the only way it will fit is to remove all the plastic trim around the tank. Im thinking since its gonna be a wet dry and never be filled with more than hlf water it should be safe. what do you guys think?

Yes, at half full.

Save the trim so that if you ever decide to change back you can.

should be okay as long as you do not inadvertantly disrupt the silicone bead(s). Save the trim.
Might consider reinforcing the tank walls once you get it into place......just to make sure.
