Hey everyone,
A co-worker found out I was into fishkeeping and gave me two filters. One was a Rena Filstar XP3 and the other was Amiracle wet/dry. Apparently one of his relatives was into a saltwater tank, got tired of it and gave my coworker his stuff. The filters sat out in the weather for over a year. The top of the XP3 is weathered but I plugged it in and it still runs.

Please take a look at the pic and tell me if it's worth running again and if there is anything missing. I'd like to use it as a backup or temporary filter.
Thanx

hoses , funnel, intake and output tubes and extensions, suction cups, spray bar, powerhead are all missing from the xp3

You're also missing the top piece on the xp3 that the hoses hook to, and you can't run one without that, so you'd have to order it. The hoses themselves you may be able to improvise something, same with the output and intake.

The funnel isn't necessary either, you can make one or find a normal funnel, it's just for pouring water into the tube to prime it.

It would be worth messing with, IMO, since all the trays and everything else are still there. If nothing else you can order all the parts, though I dunno what prices on them are.

Also make sure the rubber seal for the top is not missing (I can't see one from that picture), dry rotted, or otherwise damaged since they were sitting outside (very good chance of it). Even if the seal appears to be in good shape it may have expanded or shrunk depending on the weather, so once running it could start leaking.
This is a cheap and easy to order part, so may be best to just get a new one regardless.

Thanx guys.
I'll toy around with it and see what I can do.
Thanx again.
