As anyone used these?
Thinking of switching to them as the intakes for my FX5's since they would elimante some clutter,and take care of the heater guard issue. Have my heaters ic pvc tubes wuth holes drill ed in it,looks tacky and on occasion the bigger eels knock them around and have found the heaters half out of the guard.

I have one on my XP2 in my 55. It works fine for me and like you said reduces some of the in tank clutter. You can see it on the right side.

I also use one on my 320g tank with 2 motoro rays. It's worked well for me and no apparent burns on the rays. It is cool to the touch even when it is on.

Went to petsmart and look at on will not work for a FX5 it would restrict your intake hose. They list a tube in the instructions that can be used for other canisters that have a smaller intake hose.

Some of the places say it can be used as a basic heater,might get one since it would look a lot nicer then my white pvc tube guards,and no matter what the eels would not get burned,even if they pulled them loose from the wall.
