rena xp2 or eheim 2213

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i don't know much about either of them, however Eheim has a very good reputation.
i have the 2028 pro 2. its pretty good! just don't use it in a tank with very fine sand, unless u put a prefilter sponge over the intake and raise it high.

Price wise the eheim would be cheaper. The XP3 has more potential to filter larger amounts depending on what media you set up in it.

i found a rena foor 65 for an eheim ecco 2236, you think that would be better than a 2213. also take into account the rena and ecco are used the 2213 would be new

I'd get the largest filter that you can afford.

I run a 2213 on a 10g, a 2215 on a 30g and a 2217 on a 40g. The bigger the better. FWIW, your 2217 has more than enough bio capacity for your tank (especially if you have it loaded with just bio media). If you need more flow, invest in a powerhead.

What fish are you keeping?
