Rena xp3 vs emperor 400

Another option would be an eheim classic. You can usually pick they up pretty cheap on ebay.

agreed. cartridge filters by definition suck.

The XP-3 is an excellent, inexpensive canister filter....think the flow rate is something like 350gph and the XP-4 is around 450gph. It's easy to clean and has alot of nice features, especially the self priming feature.

Dump those emperors!
