Just got this filter and love it. However, I am wondering if I could take off the spray bar (pipe with holes on it that shoots out water). Then this would just leave me with the pipe that shoots out water, but it would be submerged under water. Don't know if this question is clear, I want to know what you guys think about this idea, and pictures of your Rena XP3s would help. Thanks..

if your going do that, you might as well use the powerjet nozzle that comes with the filter. remove the spraybar and place the nozzle at the end.

it gives better surface agitation than the spray bar anyway.

I like it better.

but its not good for gentle applications, like floating plants etc.

but for great oxygenation and current, it can't be beat..

12Volt, that's a nice flow! My fish would freak out if I have water squirting across the tank like that.

dang i just shove mine in the water with the pipe no attachments, i use a 404 fluval looks like your flow is more powerful than mine.

an older pic of my old tank with the powerjet so you can see how I have them attached:

of course, the water level is way down since I was doing a WC at the time :)

Thanks for the help, put this attachment on mine today and it makes so much less noise, and is less annoying than the other thing.

The Spray bar works a bit better/quieter,, if you drill out the holes.....just a bit bigger than what they are (older models as with new ones, the holes are already bigger). I found that mine "whistled"!

i run mine without the nozzle or the spray bar, it's fine.
