Reno Smart Heater

Do you mean rena?

The intakes on renas are much smaller diameter then ACs so I would think not. Not sure if they are ray safe.

ray safe... yes. Fit on an AC110... doubt it. effective & efficient... questionable. They do look nice and clean, I will give them that. I run two 300 watt smart heaters on a 150 and in the winter months with a room temp right around 70F, I can't get the tank to 80F. It stays right around 78F and I like to keep my fish aroun 82-86F. I haven't used them on smaller tanks yet.

So even two 300 watt ones for your 150 gal is not strong enough? It turns off automatically when out of water right?

Yes they shut off when out of water.

I have 2 300 watt Rena smart heaters in a 125. Room temp is 65 degrees and tank is set to 84 degrees. I had no problem maintaining that temp with one heater for over a year, it just ran 80% of the time. Both heaters are used in place of filter intake tubes.

Have one 300 watt on a 90gal, 65 degree room temp 74 tank temp with no issues.

Not sure if they fit the AC110 but I know the do fit the marineland filter intake tubes. Nothing you can't adapt with a visit to a hardware store however.

Alright thanks. Can you explain what it you mean when you said it ran 80% of the time?

Behind the temp dial there is a red led that comes on and back lights the dial if the heater is on(heating). With only one heater in the tank if was almost always on. Now with the two heaters the load of heating the water is split between the two so each one cycles on less often.

It also flashes if the temperature of the water is more then +/- 5 degrees F away from set temp of the heater.

Example: Heater set at 70 degrees you do a water change and the change water is only 63 degrees the light will flash. To let you know some thing is up with the water temp.

With the heater on(heating) in the water I can hold my on the out side of the heater with out being burned. The majority of the heat goes to what I guess you could call the filter tube portion of the heater, so there is virtually no danger of burning the fish should they swim up against it. I have a 15" pl*co that tries to use it to hide by/on even when it is on.
