Something about my main mbuna tank - the 55gal community - has been bugging me lately. In an attempt to get back to being happy with it, I decided to redecorate it today, change up the rockwork a bit. This is what it looked like an hour ago:

I did like it, and the fish seemed to like it, but it looked a little more 'structured' than I wanted it to. So this time, I tried to break it up more into two territories, one on either end, instead of the straight across uniform look. Here is it now, just completed:

Lol the fish are in the middle of defining territories. The two rulers of the tank are my male greshakei and male callainos, both full grown. The greshakei usually lives on the left side of the tank, and the callainos on the right - even when I've restructured it before. This time it seems they've switched though. I guess the greshakei decided he wanted the right set of caves, and since he's actually top dog in the tank, the callainos has to settle for the other side ;)

looks a gazilloin times better, if u dont stop posting pics of ur cichlid tanks im gonna have to set one up myself!

Lol sorry, no can do...I'm a fan of photography, and I like showing off my fish ;)

Thanks guys.

Beautiful set up and i love the way you formed the rocks ..what kind of rocks are they? I am about to set up a new tank and just looking for some ideas.. really beautiful the white sand with the browish red rock..is your background rock paper.. because that looks great too.. like it is faint into the horizon.. very nice!

Thanks :) Sorry, but I can't tell you what the rock is...its all stuff I've picked up around my yard and the neighbourhood, actually. So I don't have a clue what it actually is, just that it works :D Yes, the background is rockwork. Normally I like to put black backgrounds on all my tanks, but I bought the tank second hand and this one was already on it - and they did one hell of a job sticking it on there. I don't know that I could remove it if I wanted to, lol. So luckily, I like the way it looks :D
