I recently took down my 10 gal shrimp tank and wanted to get a reptile for it.
In the past I have grown out a Green Iguana to 4.5' and have had a pair of Leopard Geckos.
What should I look into?

There isn't much that can be recommended for such a small tank, maybe 1 or 2 anoles, or other small lizard, but most reptiles that you could house in that will only be temporary until they outgrow it. What are the dimensions?

Best,
Paul

crested geckos, hognose snakes, red eye crocodile skinks, common musk turtles, etc would all do fine in a 10 gallon. At least for a majority of their life.

Most frogs including darts and is you would like you could probably can get away with a leopard gecko...just not the giant morphs that i've heard about. (I know frogs are amphibians)

Snakeguy pretty much has it all covered

getting a good temperature gradient in a 10 gal is the hard part, they're just too small imo. i know it can be done successfully (like keeping a pair of oscars in a 55) but i don't recommend anything smaller than a 20 long for any reptile.

i'd go with a bug or frog for that sized tank.

Thanks for the responses guys, the 10 gal is 20" x 10 1/4" x 13".
Since Petco is running their $1/gal sale, I'll just go pick up a 40B.

Now where talking skinks, snakes, leopard geckos, uros....If I was I would just look for a cool looking reptile you would like and post it...as the list goes on and on for a tank of that size.

Also is the $1 per gallon rule for aquariums also?....I think they stop at 55 gallon...

I agree except for the musk turtle. As adults, they should be in at least a 40g.

for razorbacks, loggerheads, and mexican musks I agree but I have seen many commons do fine in a 10 for the first 3/4 of their life (when they hit the 5" mark) before an upgrade to a larger tank.
