I have a 125 gal. all glass tank and the top middle glass support boke while it got moved. When the tank is filled it bows in the middle which makes me really nevouse.

I tryed to glue a peice of plexi in with different caulking glues including silicon but when i fill it back up the glue pulls off of the glass.

Would using a peice of glass be best? and what adhesive should i use? Can i buy a top rim with a plast brace so lids fit on it nicely?

Actually, you should be able to silicone in a new glass support that is the same thickness as the old one. The tank needs to be empty of water though.

You might be able to purchase a replacement plastic top trim but need to know the outside tank dimensions & possibly the glass thickness. Do you know what brand aquarium you have?

No i have no idea, brother got the tank from a guy a few years ago, and the top has been broken for a while now. He tried the glue it empty and after a few days to cure it pulled off the glass and not the lexan when we filled it.

Looking for the best adhesive to use, or the best option, i see the new ones hace a plastic brace in the middle which is nice for the lids. This tank has been broken since i've seen it so not sure how to make two lids work since it's 6' long

use suitable silicone (I think the GE ones are popular over there in the US aren't they? ..have a look through the stickies, you will find what you need), thoroughly clean the glass surfaces with acetone or similar, wipe off any residue and glue braces at 1/3 and 2/3 of the way in from the sides.

so at 72" long, you'd want the centre of one brace at 24" and the other at 48" (measuring from the same side) to divide the top of the tank into 3 sections that you can then rest lids on. If there is nowhere to rest the lids on the short sides of the tank tho then you will also need to glue a strip of glass along each of them.

Make sure that you glue each brace & lid support at the same level otherwise your lids will sit funny and it'll look ghetto as :)

....i hope that made sense haha, it seems far wordier than it should be so if someone wants to simplify it, go for it :P

Hmm ok thanks guys, i looked around the silicone stuff so i'll try one of those. Now that you mention it i think it did have two braces to start with and brother thought it would be fine with one wider one. He use to work at a glass shop so he cut 4 peices to make to wide lids. But i'm going to have an above the tank basking area for my turtle anyways so that is going to get changed up anyways.
