Coming back from the grocery store last night we came across a tank that had been put out for trash pick up. Decided to take the bad boy home. The only set back is that the bottom pane is cracked and I'm not too sure how bad the rest of the glass is scratched. Still need to clean it out.

If the sides arent too bad, I can repair the bottom piece I'd like to use this to house my pair of Oscars. The foot print is the same as my 125 so that will work perfect for my stand. Then I could use the 125 as the wet/dry for my 600g (not yet assembled).

If the sides are too scratched up I'll repair it and use it as the wet/dry filter on my 600g.

I have a few sheets of 1/2" glass and a few tubes of silicone already.

Which route would you take?

I know its a game of IF's and INCHES's right now, but I'll get the tank cleaned out and post pics, so I can, with your help, make the best decision.

I think I'd be tempted to use a nice slab of that 1/2" glass to overlay the cracked bottom and then use it as a "free" sump for the 600G. it's a LOT less work than replacing the bottom. It's not like your out any money and you WILL find another good tank deal. (We all do...)

When you look at the big picture...a 150 really isn't that much bigger than a 125 with the same footprint. (We have a 150 with the 4'x2' footprint)

That was my first thought, but then I started to wonder if a 150g is overkill for wet/dry.

So far the poll says a 55g is a good sized wet/dry for the 600g... Does that sound right?

Not to me...a wet dry should be a 1/5 to 1/4 the volume of the tank itself...a 55 would be entirly too small for a 600 gallon tank IMO

well i've decided to dissassemble the tank and use the glass for a block pond i'd like to eventually build.

...dreams...
