i have the chance of getting a 6x2x2 tank and cabinet for free only thing is that there is a crack in the bottom panel.
if i was to repair this would i need another piece of 10mm glass siliconed in or could i use thinner glass.
i can get 4mm glass cut to size for free.

You could use 4mm glass if the bottom were completely flat at the crack, but do you think you would ever be comfortable with that much water in your house and only 4mm holding it in ?

You don't need to cover the whole bottom unless that's how it's cracked, just cover the crack plus 4 inches and the whole width with 10mm. Remember, use quality silicone and alot of it. let it cure for at least a week (7 days). Use a pad between the tank and stand.

Oh yeah, keeping your fingers crossed couldn't hurt.

There's a montra to the aquarium gods that goes " Ooohhmm PPPLLEEase don't let it leak, Ooohhmm PPPLLEEase don't let it leak" I thinlk you should be facing kinda N.N.E. when you chant it. :screwy: :screwy: :screwy:

totally agreed.

most lfs shops would repair it for you, it would cost you about 150 USD, if you are spending 150 on a 6x2 tank, I still think your in front.

Personally I wouldn't risk it on the 4mm glass, if you could even go to 6, would be better.

Just my .02c

:D

G'Luck!
