I found a great deal on a 180g tank but it has a crack in the bottom. The add says that the tank still holds water and does not leak. Is their any other than replacing the glass, to strengthen or repair the tank?

its better to repair it than having 180g of water and dead fish on the floor. If it was me i would replace it.

So taking out the old bottom and putting in a new one is the only way to repair it? They want 75 for the tank, how much do you guys think a new sheet of 72" X 24" 1/2" glass will run.

SHOULD ONLY NEED 3/8 GLASS AND I PRICED IT LAST WEEK AND IT WAS AROUND 90 BUCKS HERE IN INDIANA
THATS STILL IS A GOOD PRICE FOR A 180 GAL TANK

I WOULD BUY IT

Got some more info on the tank, it apparently has two bottom layers of glass, one of which has a crack. I did not know that they made tanks with two bottom layers, does this sound right? Also could some one give me an approximate weight of the tank. Thanks for the help.

2 Glass Pieces for bottom sounds like someone did a quick repair to me also never seen a tank made that way.

Well I am going to go ahead an pick this tank up, hopefully the I can use just the good sheet to repair if it is thick enough. Worst case I could probably sell the tank for what I got it for. As for the weight, does anyone know how much the empty tank would weigh. Thanks for the help.

I have repaired cracked bottom panals by glueing in a fitted panal of glass to the inner side of the cracked one, worked great and because ti is the bottom it does not show.
