A customer contacted me the other day in need of a repair. He ordered a Bashsea sump and the first one arrived broken. The bottom acrylic panel broke leaving a 6-10” hole. Bashsea replaced the sump and due to shipping cost told him to keep the broken one. He dropped off the sump the other day at my apartment. I have no tools on hand to do a clean repair job but he doesn’t mind as it’s only a sump. I will show the simple steps involved in doing such a repair in case this happens to anyone in the future. If the original broken piece is still in your possession this type of repair is 100x easier. Here is a picture of the hole in the bottom panel.
Unfortunately the broken piece goes right to the outside edge of the sump. This means a second acrylic sheet can not be simply welded to the bottom as there would still be a 3/8” gap between the side seam and replacement bottom panel. Thus I created a dam using two right angle acrylic rods then filled the gap with weldon 40 until it was poured level to broken panel.
