Repairing HOB's

This has happened to all of us - the metal shaft that the impellers go on came loose. This is not fixable is it ? Is it feasible to hunt down a new motor, or just get a whole new filter ?
Aquaclear 500 is the most current one to do this, and I need one for one of my 30's.

I use aqua clears on both my tanks right now I think there was a part list in the manual. You may be able to order one

I took all the steel shafts out of my HOBs and changed them all to ceramic. Last forever.

Can the metal shaft be put back in ? I keep trying, no luck.

It will never work the same. Just buy a new impellor (spelling?)... They cost maybe 10 bucks. I have a bunch of old emperor 400s that I bring out of storage, add water, and resurrect all the time. They just dont die..

I have like 4 penguins that are rated for 55g with degraded shafts(from sand) that don't work anymore... But the emperors are beasts.

My advice; just upgrade to canister filters.

They stay in there nice and tight. I notice a higher water flow to.
