So today when I got to work, in the spot they put used or broken tanks I saw a brand new cracked 30br. I couldn't pass on up that.

Anyways, so it appears the panel is cracked from one end to the other. I have a 29g with a cracked side panel and I am thinking of possibly taking the front or bottom panel to a place that could cut glass and reseal the whole tank with the new side panel.

I have heard of siliconing glass over the crack, but I don't think that this would work in this situation.

I tried to measure the cracked panel, but because of the frame I could only measure the length of the panel, which is 17 1/2". The height of the tank including the frame is 13 1/4".

Both the 29g and the 30br have the same glass thickness, but taking a panel from the 29 to a glass cutter should be the last resort due to hassle.

Does anybody have any ideas to check the height of the glass? Also anybody have any other fix ideas?

Take off the trim is going to be HELL. I tried to do it on a 10 gallon and broke the glass and totally ruined the tank.
