My pet store had some 2 oz. Samples of this stuff so I brought a package home. This was my first try at gel food. I usually feed Omega One Super Color flakes, or CYCLOPEEZE (which is great for color).
Instead of the 1/4 cup it recommends, I made a Tablspoon portion with 3 tablespoons of water. First of all, this stuff stinks, I know it's fish food, but when the steam from the hot water mixture and the powder hits you in the face while stirring is just terrible.
I didn't think it was going to set so quickly, less than 30 seconds, so my mold came out a little ugly, but it worked.
I cut a small piece and dropped it in the tank. A few fish got a bit as it fell, and then left in alone. I ended up spearing it with a plastic pole and suspending it. The guppies love it. It took the rainbows about an hour to figure out where the food was an then they went after it (except for the dominant male). Rabbit Snails love the pieces that fall. My Harlequin Rasboras never went for a bite.
Judging by the amount I made, and the actual amount I fed. I have a feeling this 2 oz free sample is going to last a while.
Overall I'm satisfied with it, but want to work on molding it to small piece of driftwood and the fish graze naturally.
