Found this on Craigslist, would this be ok to use on a 265?

Any drawbacks to a sand filter? I need to ditch these HOB's asap. This was used on a pool, obviously, would I have to change the media or just rinse it off and re-use?

I agree...pool pumps are loud. Most likely a high speed pump which means a lot a amperage. Sand is cheap...would not re-use.

That looks like the same housing as my Ultima 2000. You could remove the sand and use plastic filter media like K1 or try and get filter beads from Ultima.
Don't reuse the sand, wash it out very good to remove any trace of chlorine.
As for the pump just take it, tell the seller you don't know if it will work for you and offer them $50.
I'm going to buy a similar sand filter in the am for $35. without the pump. I will eventually be taking it apart to compare the internals with my Ultima.
