I was told that the ballast I have is known for having an "IC Failure" or "IC Chip failure"

Anyone how to go about fixing this, or if it is worth fixing?

Thanks

by IC I assume they mean integrated circuit. If that's the case it's cheaper and more feasible to replace the ballast (assuming it's fluorescent)

Metal Halide

As to it meaning Integrated circuit - no idea. The guy said that my ballast is know to have this problem, and believe he said that digital ballasts will not experience this issue - thus i should upgrade.

I would rather fix if it is simple enough - it is a 400w metal halide ballast.

open it up and show us some pictures of the guts, be sure to get good detail on any circuit boards. It could be a common part or a specialized one. I will know once I see the it.

Good Luck!

Ok Perfect - I will complete this in a couple of days.
