ok so i need to redo the bulkheads in my 500g. i got them out, whats the best way to redo it? can i reuse the ones i have? how do i make sure it will be water tight? and last but not least, how do i clean all the old silicone properly? THANKS

Silicone is so hard to remove completely that is why when I set up my bulkheads tomorrow I won't use anything but the gasket the bulkheads come with. I did so much tub recaulking at work but I had to remove 100% silicone from the tubs first and it really sucked. You have to remove every bit to get a good seal.

how do you remove it though? just pick at it? will paint thinner or acetone work? or will either of those damage gaskets or acrylic?

Thing is man you should not have to use any silicone on a bulk head i would go ahead and buy new at this point ..Do not use any thinners on your acylic Bro just pic at it take your time the rbber gasket does the sealing for sure and just hand tighten until it is snug then about a half turn max you should have no problem....

thanks a lot, whoever did the bulkheads last time loaded the overflows with silicone, i have some serious picking to do.

For the little cost of the bulkhead I would buy new and not waste your time.

Get a putty knife of some sort that can fit in there and scrape it out and when you think you got most of it you will still find a thin film of it that you need to remove.

thanks, becuase a razor is almost impossible to hold in the bottom of a 2ft deep overflow i got new bulkheads, just need to see what the biggest i can put in will be
