Replacing carbon with matrix

I heard that bacteria lives in the carbon so I was wondering if I should switch out the carbon with seachem matrix in my ac150? Is there more surface area in the carbon or matrix??

as far as i kno matrix, is carbon, only formed into sphere's(sp? lol ) thing with carbon is it cna very depending on what its made out of i belive. i talked to a seachem rep and he sayd it should last twice or more logner then other activated carbon products, honestly who knows if its tru are not. im ususing soem right now, but its noly been running for like a week haha. so duno what to tell ya really.

well you should have some dedicated bio material in there so when you change your carbon you don't loose all you BB... matrix is supposed to be better than regular carbon but I don't run it either... I use chemipure and chemipure elite......
