Hey guys, I have 2 fluval fx5s running on my 300 right now, and its time to change the outter sponges on the baskets (see pic below). All 3 baskets (at least 2 baskets) are filled with either scrubbies or ceramic media on both fx5s...Question is, can I replace all the outter sponges (2 to a basket-so 6 in total per fx5) on an entire unit...then wait about 10 days, and completly replace all of the outter sponges on the other unit, or should I do something like replace half, then a couple days later replace the other half?
Thanks,
John

Why are you changing the sponges?

Since you have 2 FX5's, just do one unit at a time. The sponges are mostly mechanical since you have the baskets filled with other media.

I would just wash the sponges if they are really dirty put them in the washer on gentle cycle and no soap then let air dry

+1 Why not rinse them off? That's what I do and it works great, are they torn or something?
