In a dream
Ok so I have been replumbing my 225 (72 x 30 x 24) and put my 2 glass lids off to the side where I thought it was out of the way. Some how i manged to step on one of them and shatter it. I am pissed and disgusted about the whole situation.

Anyways i need it replaced. These are my options:

-Drive to california 4 hours one way to get the exact lid that i had. Price is reasonable.

- waiting for a call back from my LFS for an estimate. Problem is that they get their tanks from Fujimoto and every tank we have owned from them, the silicone doesnt last too long and u end up with seperated pieces. The LFS can also get lids from visio but they dont silicone their lids and use that black connecting strip which i really dont like

- last option is buying the glass cut to size and trying to silicone it myself which i have never done. Someone told me you need to make use some type of spacer? I have no idea.

Im just really anal about having things match and want the same piece but might be a little too far to drive. Every place I checked will not ship glass either. My tank is 30" wide so the lids are huge too. So fustrated cause all of this could have been avoided if i was more careful. Arghgh.

Any ideas or feedback is appreicated.

I just bought a nice 80gal bowfront and it had two 24" lids comprised of two glass pieces (front one curved of course) joined by a plastic hinge with a third panel of plastic strip for the back to cut for hoses, cords and what not. On one of the lids the center section (glass) was broken in half and the previous owner used some sort of clear tape to put it back together than the plastic hinge and plastic rear strip clamped onto the edges making it somewhat solid again. I thought it looked horrible and wanted to start fresh and so I went to a local glass shop. I took them the piece and for less than $6 I had a whole new glass panel the exact same shape & size. I put everything back together and couldn't be happier. Simple, cheap fix.
