Awhile ago I posted I thread saying that I had a black moor goldfish that had a really bad eye infection and he went blind.I didn't want the infection to spread any more and his eyes were already rotting so I made an executive decision to get his eyes amputated. Most people replyed that Its just going to die and a few tried to encourage me to kill him.I just wan't to say after over a month the goldfish is completely healed and healthy. No killing or anything was necessary. He gets around fine and eats fine, ect.He is just a normal fish with no eyes.

I wouldn't have suggested that you kill the fish as there are plenty of blind fish swimming around in the hobby and they do just fine considering.Did you ever find out what it was that infected the fish's eyes?

I had a blind goldfish many years ago. It was a free goldfish since the pet store owner do not want it anymore. It doesn't have any problem with finding foods, and even munching on feeder guppies.

That's the key,as long as it can find enough food it should do well.

My daughter has a 7" black moor that is blind in both eyes. Cause of blindness is from a catfish attacking it and it's also my fault for putting them together. It is now by itself and it eats fine and swims constantly.

I'll post a pic in a few minutes. It was some fuzzy fungus and velvet that took over after my new wild caught hybrid sunfish decided to eat all of my swordtails, neons, and a little bit of each of the black moors eyes.I haven't added any fish except for a pearl gourami since and the sunfishes new "temporary" friend was an srd flowerhorn. For some reason when I had the goldfish I also got 2 other calico, balloon, telescope eye, double tail goldfish at the same time. After a few days all of the goldfish got sick and the black moor was the survivor when it was probably the only one that should of died.My current stock of my 40g with the black moor is the black moor, 3 long-tailed black skirt tetras (2 r pregnant!), pearl gourami, 1 autumn angel, 1 koi angel, an I.D. shark, a peacock eel, 1 yellow apple snail, and like 30 little snails of unknown type (some of them look like petsmarts "mystery" snails and some look like trumpet snails.I got them for free from petsmart cuz I asked them to put a few in with the swordtails that I used to have.
