I take a class called public speaking in school and by the name you can tell im going to do a lot of speeches. Now currently I am working on a speech on why kids should have reptiles for my persuasive speech. Sometime this week I am getting a leopard gecko who is roughly 8 years old and extremely kind. I asked my teacher if I can bring her in to kind of show people how cool reptiles can be (I did a survey for class and people said reptiles were kind of scary) And honestly I got a surprising yes. So the leopard gecko im getting doesnt live with a heat lamp, Never has and lives in a 10 gallon. So im taking her and putting her in my 40 gallon with heat and UEV. On April 12th presentations start, is there a way I can safely transport her to and from school? I know this is a long shot but I can bring a heat lamp and possibly the 10 gallon im getting her from to school and get picked up with her at the end of the day.

You can’t bring any animals or a tank on the bus, trust me, I have tried before, got shut down quick. You’ll have to be dropped off.

100% ,I plan on being dropped off in the morning and getting picked up in the afternoon. I can recruit help lol. But I will have to get people in to help me. This better be an A+ lol.

I think that if you confirm with the teacher beforehand (and probably the principal) you should be good and can leave the gecko with the teacher for the day.

Heat lamp would be better. But if it’s been spending most it’s life without a lamp, another day wouldn’t make much a difference to it + would make it a bit more sluggish and easier to use for presentation.

Ok, perfect. what do you think the best way to transport her would be? A pet carrier? a small tank? a box?

I think a box or something in the 5 gallon range is good. 10 is a little awkward to carry. Pet carrier is also good.
Whatever gives her the best amount of space but isn’t a struggle for you is best.

Young children wanting reptiles can often end in pets being neglected. So many reptiles, fish tanks and so on are purchased here on the whims of children and come up on classified ads much later (You can often see when someone doesn't know much about what they're selling). Reptiles are long term, specialist commitments. I got my corn snake at 12, he's still with my 7 years later and still has far more to go. My crested geckos have to travel with me to University so I can care for them.

It sounds like a great opportunity but please be aware of the repercussions that your talk may have as not everyone is as dedicated or well-researched as you.

100%. In my speech I include people should learn about them which will help them take proper care for them and educate them on how to keep there setups healthy for the reptile before getting any. I also talk about how certain kinds of reptiles like uromastyx and crested dont need crickets and uros are vegetarian (yes I did mention there are other requirements for both) but I included they are a lot easier to care for than say a bearded, tegu or chameleon.
