Reptile Tainted Frozen food... warning

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hahahahahaha. OF COURSE IT HAS SALMONELLA, IT IS UNCOOKED CHICKEN!

I don't get why they have to recall it. anybody that has any idea of sanitation at all should under stand that they should wash their hands and wipe down surfaces after thawing feeders.

This sort of makes me angry. I feel like the Food and Drug administration is going to start making us cook the feeders to a certain temperature before we feed them to our snakes. I think the recall is ridiculous. I can get salmonella from publix's chicken too but that is not being recalled.

so this is really a unnessary recall.... well then sorry i posted it...lol... i really did not stop to think they already had salmonella.. and it would not harm the reptiles

No, thank you for posting it. At the very least it shows how silly some regulations are.

well thanks for clearing this up.. your right... some regulations are just "out there":)

I feed my corn snake frozen/thawed food every week never had a problem, but i do take precautions, I only use one container to thaw in and that gets washed every time I never directly handle thawed mice. and i wash my hands. Anything can be dangerous if handled in the wrong way.

The worry is not even about the reptiles getting salmonella...hell most reptiles already carry it!
It's that we might get it from the feeders because there was like 17 reports of people getting it..... was it actually from the feeders? doubtful... but even so..it should be common sense to wash your hands after touching dead things.....
And about the only way it could get into the human food in the freezer is if they left an unwrapped dead mouse on top of an unwrapped steak that they cooked rare and even that is unlikely........ any other meat even if for some reason it came into contact with the mice would be cooked enough to kill the bacteria....

lol oh dear.

i deforst all mine together, chicks, rabbits, rats, mice etc. but then everything is cleaned afterwards and i wash my hands with antibacterial.

snakes CARRY salmonella so i just use the same routine with food as i do when i handle them.

tbh if u dont wash ur hands afer touching dead animals ur wrong and disgusting.
