I am looking to get an arowana when I build my big 600 gallon tank, but so far, tracking them down is nearly impossible. There is an absolute flood of Arowana related scams on the internet and I can't seem to find any breeders or suppliers.
I have come across some websites that have them for sale, but only offer a stock picture of a colorless adolescent fish. I have seen gorgeous bronze Jardinis and vibtant Leichardtis on the internet in forums and on bidding sites selling for high prices.
Someone has to be breeding show stocks right? I'm not looking for the absolutely most perfect show quality fish, but where can I look to find someone that sells an attractive stock? Is there someone I can talk to? I have discovered that I need to find someone with some sort of connections to ask. I would rather not compete in a bid with someone on a website where competition is fierce or constantly check different forum marketplaces until one happens to come up. Googling it just made me afraid that I am going to fall for some elaborate scam website.
