We're building a new shark tank as a centerpiece display in our new home. The goal is to be able to house white tips, amongst other suitable species.

This tank has been a dream for a while, and we're lucky that we have an extremely flexible budget and space for thousands of gallons. Are there any shark experts that would be willing to talk through the proposed tank setup / design? Greatly appreciate it - don't want to spend too much money on the wrong design, and want to make sure the animals have an environment that they can thrive in.

I send zoodiver a private message because he seems like he knows this space well, but from what I've seen it doesn't look like he's been active on the forum for a bit.

I don’t know much about shark tanks/care, but you’re basically describing my dream tank, so I’ll follow along!

For White Tip I know a circular aquarium design would be best for them. I've only kept benthic species like the Bamboo and Marbled Catshark.

There is a useful Elasmobranch Husbandry Manual online and linked in one of the pinned posts at top. This will provide sufficient background requirements.

White tip sharks can sit on bottom and breath motionless so slightly easier to keep than black tip reef sharks (which are also easy to keep). I've kept both species and prefer the black tip if you are after the "SHARK" effect. A taller tank say 2m high viewing window would allow cruising at different depths. You don't need a circular tank as water currents (for easier maintenance) can be provided with water pumps.

MFK is not the online forum it became famous for. You might get more help at Reef2Reef perhaps. Would also contact curators at public aquariums in your own country or professional consultants if money is less of a concern. Planning ahead is essential.
