hi all,

just wanted to post a quick request to the lungfish legion for anyone willing to share some pics of their lungfishes for the primitivefishes.com website. i had a thread in the ancient fishes section reporting the recent overhaul and updates to the site (needed it after almost 7 years) and i will be making continued additions/changes as i get time over the new year.

i already have photos of all 6 species of lungfishes, but it would be great to get some within-species diversity for the individual species pages. if you are willing to share a photo or two of your fish, please post here that you are willing and email me the photo at E_americanus@hotmail.com. you will receive credit for the photo on site, and the photo will be watermarked so people can't reproduce it without authorization.

looking for high-quality pics of ALL species...not terribly picky with the first call, but water spots on the glass and similar issues would not be usable. thanks for any help you can provide!--

Here's what I currently have for lungfish pictures:

WAL (14", unsexed)

SpAL (12", unsexed)

I'll try to get clearer pictures of at least the SAL as soon as possible; he made his aquarium a bit cloudy during feeding time earlier today.

Let me know if you need pictures of any specific parts of the lungfish or any other pictures.

hey Ryan, great pics! will be in touch about further details. i will say, however, that i believe the lungfish in your last set is a WAL, not a SpAL. WAL are pretty variable in pattern, but morphologically, SpAL's are pretty distinct. they essentially look like SAL's with longer fins--

Alright, sounds good.

If it'll help with a more accurate ID, here's what that last lungfish looked like when I got it. It had fins that seemed a bit long for its length, the pattern was very different, and the head shape was different, too.

As you can tell, its gained a bit of length and girth since I received it; it seems to have grown into its fins.

Here are a few pics of my SAL. I can also email you the files
The first two are when he was about 4" summer of 2009
Second two are at about 8" winter 2009
I haven't taken any decent pictures recently, but I will probably have more eventually.
