I am considering setting up a tank. I have a few ideas for what I can put in there - it's a 2 1/2 gal so I am limited.

I want to see if there are any suggestions other than what I have in mind. I can come up with maybe 3 different ideas. Please let me know what you think!

:D :feedback: :asianarow :goldfish: :frog: :tropicalf

Yeah 2.5 gallons really is limiting! If it were me, I'd do a planted tank with one male betta. You can't find a more responsive pet in that size of a tank.

A planted tank with cherry shrimp would also be a neat setup. Or a dwarf puffer.

those are the exact 3 things i was thinking! and i really like all of those ideas also. but i wonder if there is anything else, just for consideration sake?

Hmm... not sure. During college I read up a lot on nano tanks, because I could only keep <5g in the dorms. I seemed to hear the same choices time after time: betta, shrimp, or dwarf puffer. Another option would be an African dwarf frog... but I kept one in a tank with my betta and they hated each other.

I dont wanna be a downer, but 2.5 gallons really isn't that much for a dwarf puffer. I had mine in a 5 gallon and ended up upgrading to a ten because it just seems he didn't have enough space to explore. Otherwise they are pretty sweet fish for small tanks

Yeah I had one in a 5g hex, and it seemed like he really liked all the room he could get. :-\
