So I was lurking around at turtle talk (BTW, is this a good turtle forum? I never post, just occasionally browse when I'm bored/have a turt question) and saw a lot about them suggesting to people feeding their RES crickets occasionally.

I have heard this many times before, and since I have a bunch on hand figured it would be a doable treat.

My question is, how? Mine are live, would I be better off with the Can-O-Crix or should I just kill the ones I have first? My turtle only has a basking dock, so not really a big place for live crickets to hang out. I spot feed several of my fish with tweezers/tongs, do you think this would work?

just dump live ones in the water a few at a time, the turt should have no problem catching them:)

my turtles love the occassional cricket or grasshopper thrown into the pond, when i can catch them.

i've been a member of turtleforum.com for quite a while, its small but there's a good info base there.

Yeah your RES will love crickets. My turtles are always begging for food so when they are doing this, I just drop a few in and they're gone in a few seconds.

Dido;) Gut load them first with some veggys and dont over do

when my aunt had a turtle she got madagascar hissing roaches, bred them, then used them as feeders. The turtle loved them, the roaches actually made great pets too, but when a female gives birth to 60+ you gotta get rid of them somehow.

yeah, I just grabbed some of the leo's crix and threw them in. After some taunting, he took to them quite readily!

I feed my snapper live crickets every week or so he usually eats them quickly but some climb onto his basking spot but i just catch them and toss them out into open water
