Anybody Ever See A Red Eared slider and a comon snapper ever BOND..

I mean like they bask together and swim next to each other and everything???

They're not really the kinds of animals that "bond." You can keep more than one slider together though. I've never seen them bother each other and even in the wild they bask piled up together.

But snappers think most things that are smaller look like food, and they are usually correct.

I know it is said not to keep together, yet i am doing an experiment with them.

I have caught a newborn cst and also a res, they were in the same little pool and i caught them in the same dip of my net... Now they are both in a tank together, and in there basking area, they lay on top of each other at times. And they do swim side by side..

The test is if they grow up together will they have a bond like no other person has seen?

if i notice something the slightest bit wrong they will be seperated.

if they are the same size they will be ok but if not the snapper will either kill or eat the rec!!

good luck on your experiment

I'm not exactly sure how you are hoping this experiment will turn out. Both species will grow alongside each other in nature, until they don't have enough space for themselves, and then they attack each other. It might highly depend on the size tank you give them. Put them both in a 20G and you could experience some issues when they get a couple of inches bigger. Put them in a pond and they may never bother one another. It will have a lot to do with territorial aggression.

What if the first noticed act is the res getting a leg or head bit off? Snappers do not play nice.

the snapper will get alot bigger then the res.. and they arent named snappers for no reason.. they will probably do ok at that size if the snapper is very well fed. what size tank are they in?
